VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — A 29-year-old Watervliet woman may face drunken driving charges after she lost control of her vehicle in rural Van Buren County, clipped a mailbox and crashed into a grove of trees.
Sheriff Sgt. Kyle Romeo says it happened at about 2:15am Sunday in the 27000 block of 60th Avenue in Antwerp Township.
Despite considerable damage to the auto, airbags deployed and the driver was able to get out of the car and walk to a nearby home, where the homeowner was able to call 911 and summon help.
The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies believe alcohol was involved, and blood tests were ordered.
