BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — The suspect in Battle Creek’s New Year’s Eve murder has been formally charged with the shooting death of Howard Gillette.
18-year-old Drequan Scott was stopped for driving while intoxicated that night, had his car impounded early New Year’s Eve.
A subsequent search of the car turned up a hand gun and items allegedly stolen from the Gillette home.
They believe that Scott set the house on Graves Street on fire in an attempt to cover up the killing.
