GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO AM/FM) — Jared Chance, the suspect accused of mutilating the body of Ashley Young of Oshtemo, has now been formally charged with open murder and three counts of tampering with evidence and could get up to life if convicted.
Chance had previously been charged with mutilating her dead body and concealing Young’s death.
His attorney, Andrew Rodenhouse is anxious to see what the prosecution has.
Most, but not all of Young’s dismembered body was found on December 2nd in a Southeast Grand Rapids home, and Chance was arrested a short time later.
Her death is listed as homicide by unknown means.
The documents also revealed that Chance’s parents may have been more involved than previously reported.
Forensic examiners found traces of Young’s blood in a mini-van that was towed from their home in Holland, and found a saw that was used to dismember the body under their sofa.
