PARCHMENT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — There may be another problem with the water at some homes in Parchment, and state and local health officials are is trying to get in touch with the occupants of over 300 homes who may have lead service lines and fixtures.
The plan is to check on the plumbing and test the water, and provide information on filters.
Apparently the transition this summer from using the city’s PFAS contaminated water to Kalamazoo’s water system may have resulted in higher lead levels in the tap water of those particular homes.
So far they have only been able to contact 77 of the homes and schedule inspections and testing.
Lead is the problem that afflicted homeowners in Flint. It can cause developmental problems in children.
