KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo School Trustees had no problem finding a candidate to fill a vacancy on their board last evening. The appointment became a necessity when Dr. Lauren Freedman announced she would be moving to Washington State because of her family.
The board decided to let voters make the choice. An election was held just last month.
They voted to offer the position to Jason Morris, the candidate who finished third last month.
Morris will join new trustees Tandy Moore and Jermaine Jackson in the orientation and training that board members undergo as they assume office.
Morris will serve until the next available school board election and then have to run again if he wants to keep the seat.
