KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo area has experienced two fatal hit and run crashes in the last week.
It was one month ago that a woman was struck twice and killed on Michigan Avenue and on Tuesday night a woman was struck and killed by a hit and run semi-driver in Greenville.
National statistics show fatal vehicle/pedestrian accidents are up 46-percent in the last decade.

Following the death in Kalamazoo Township, Supervisor Don Martin suggested to his board that they buy reflective armbands for residents.
Safety officials say the proliferation of SUV’s, which are less forgiving than cars when they hit pedestrians, has also contributed to the problem.
