PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement team set out on a mission Monday to track down a dangerous felon who was a probation absconder who they suspected in a series of armed robberies targeting drug sources in the area.
They began surveillance on him, first following him to an address on East Milham Avenue in Portage where he entered with several other people.
When they saw him leave on his own, they decided it was time to make the arrest.
When they made contact, he reached for his waistband where he had a pistol, but he apparently decided he was out-gunned and didn’t pull it out.
They found a loaded .45-caliber handgun in his belt. They also found a .357-caliber revolver in the vehicle, along with several kinds of ammunition, methamphetamine, stolen property and evidence from the alleged robberies.
The 36-year-old was booked into the County Jail on multiple gun and drug felonies.
