KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – It’s been a tough financial week with the stock market losing over 1400 points and here in Michigan, the auto industry reporting a dip in November sales for every automaker but Chrysler.
West Michigan Economist Brian Long says the area’s economy improved in September, jumped again in October, and was the best of the year in November. But he sees dark clouds on the horizon as the impact of last year’s tax cuts starts to diminish
He says the the European economy is doing a slow fade; it appears the office furniture market is topping out; and while the slowdown in auto sales hasn’t hit west Michigan parts suppliers yet, it could in the coming year, if plants start closing as GM and Ford have announced.
