KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man is in custody after a robbery near Portage.
The man walked into a business in the 2800 block of Portage Street at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday, flashed a gun and demanded cash, leaving on foot.
Employees were able to give Public Safety Officers a detailed description of the thief.
KPDS dispatched a K-9 and they set up a perimeter near Portage and Cork Street where they were able to stop a 37-year-old Kalamazoo man who matched the description.
They were able to recover the stolen cash, a fake gun and other evidence.
The suspect was arrested for armed robbery and booked into the Kalamazoo County Jail.
He could be formally charged on Friday.
