While some have been critical of the idea of using a thrown hockey puck as a last line of defense against an active shooter, Professor Tom Discenna says they are missing the point.
He says printed on their pucks is a number where they can give money to buy better classroom door locks.
Professor Discenna says he asked the Campus Police Chief if he had any ideas for an object that would be easy to carry and an effective deterrent when thrown.
The chief remembered his hockey days and suggested a puck.
