LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — The Michigan Board of Canvassers has certified the results from the state’s mid-term election Monday evening, and that includes Proposition 1, legalizing recreational marijuana.
It takes effect in ten days, on December 6th.
While smokers over 21 will be able to possess it, and grow up to 12 plants, it won’t be legal to buy it until the state works out the rules for production, distribution and sales.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller says it will also be illegal to smoke in public, and drive after you smoke.
He says it would also be a good idea to check with your employer to find out how they feel about marijuana. It could save your job.
