COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -Bills are now before state Senate committees that will modify a pair of ballot proposals approved by state lawmakers this summer, preventing both from going on the November ballot.
State Senator Mike Shirkey’s bill amends the new law mandating employers provide workers with paid sick time. Shirkey’s bill eliminates part of the law that includes the presumption that an employer is in violation if a complaint is filed with the state.
The other bill from Senator Dave Hildenbrand of Lowell changes the minimum wage increase to preserve the tip credit for servers, who are in line for a 12-dollar minimum wage if no modifications were to be made.
