KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Voter turnout was very high nationwide, even higher in Michigan and higher than that in Kalamazoo County.
Nationally about 114-million citizens voted sometime during the last few months with most of them turning out on Tuesday to cast their ballot.
That is 49% or about half of all registered voters.
Exit polling suggests that many of the voters were motivated by President Donald Trump.
In the state of Michigan, 4.3-million people voted, that’s 57.5% of the state’s registered voters.
Kalamazoo County Clerk Tim Snow says his numbers put Kalamazoo a little higher than that with 59.3 percent of local registered voters went to the polls.
That’s the best percentage for a Midterm in 56-years, and the biggest total number of voters in a midterm ever.
