LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — Cancer patients and others relying on medical marijuana to treat their illnesses had something else to fear this Halloween after the State Licensing Board moved up the deadline for closing unlicensed pot shops from December 15th to today.
They claimed that sufficient licenses were already in place for everyone to have at least one outlet within 60-miles of their home. That can be a real hardship for some.
Now the Michigan Court of Claims has rejected the change as arbitrary and capricious,
They will allow the shops that have applied, but still have not been licensed to stay open.
The judge also enjoined the state licensing board from setting any other deadlines without the court’s permission.
The state has been glacially slow in issuing licenses.
