KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The X-Train was running again this weekend through Kalamazoo’s Northside neighborhood. Lt. Chad Vanderklok says they monitor the rolling party, which has been a problem for years.
He says whenever they have the manpower available, they send in the troops.
He says the partiers usually gather at the same spots. Early Saturday it was Northglade Elementary. They stopped as many of them as they could and issued citations.
He says they have one of their officers monitor their activities and note which ones commit traffic infractions or other violations and then target them.
Lt. Vanderklok says it seems to be having an impact over time. He says there are fewer complaints and there is less violent activity involved lately.
Countless traffic violations, drugs, acts of vandalism and destruction, random gunfire and at least one murder have been linked to the roving caravan of vehicles over the years.
