LEONIDAS TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — A house fire in St. Joseph County has claimed the life of the homeowner, and police are fire officials are investigating the cause.
The fire was called in at about 8 pm Saturday evening.
Firefighters were dispatched to the 31,000 block of Depot Street in Leonidas Township. The first crews on the scene found the home fully engulfed in flames, making any rescue attempt impossible.
The victim’s body was recovered after the fire was extinguished and an autopsy is planned.
His name has not been released.
