LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The election is November 6th and a brand new poll suggests that Gretchen Whitmer holds a 50 to 36% lead over Bill Schuette in the race for Governor.
The Marketing Research Group poll shows Whitmer leading in almost every geographical area in the state, including normally Republican West Michigan by 50 to 38%.
The only part of the state where the Attorney General is leading is in the Upper Peninsula.
She is leading with women and with independent voters by sizable margins.
Pollster Ed Sarpolus says she also leads among minority voters, but not by the margin she may need.
Most pollsters agree that Schuette was damaged by a bitter and largely negative primary race, and has never recovered from the high unfavorable rating it left him with.
