IONIA COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — The American Civil Liberties Union is filing a complaint against Meijer after a pharmacy worker reportedly refused to fill an Ionia woman’s prescription to help her following a miscarriage.
Rachel Peterson says it happened at the Meijer location in Petoskey, and that the pharmacist told her he would not give her the medicine because he thought she planned to use it for an abortion.
She did not, but he didn’t believe her.
She says he also refused to have another pharmacist fill the prescription and would not arrange for a different pharmacy to give her the medicine, contrary to Meijer policy.
She had to drive home to Ionia County to get her local Meijer to track down the prescription and fill it.
The ACLU wants some assurances it won’t happen again.
