RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff deputies are identifying the man killed in a head-on crash in Richland Township.
It happened just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on Sprinkle Road near East FG Avenue.
Authorities say 49-year-old Matthew Cooper from Plainwell was traveling in his black Honda Prelude on northbound Sprinkle Road when he attempted to pass another vehicle in a no passing lane.
That’s when he smashed into a white Buick Rendezvous SUV driven by 16-year-old Shane Courter of Kalamazoo.
Cooper was pronounced dead at the scene and Courter was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The crash is still under investigation.
