UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) — Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is part of a lawsuit filed by the mother of a murdered GVSU nursing student, Rosemarie Reilly, according to a WZZM exclusive story.
Reilly’s ex-boyfriend shot and killed her in November 2016. Then Jeremy Kelley fatally shot himself.
The suit alleges that sheriff’s deputies and GVSU police — as well as Kelley’s father a Bloomfield Township police officer, could have prevented the murder.
Records indicate Reilly, 21, got an protection order, but Kelley continued to call and stalk her, according to the lawsuit. She was killed just three weeks later, when Kelley tracked her down at a friend’s Eastown home.
GVSU issued a statement supporting its police officers; and Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office referred reporters to the county attorney’s office.
