WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO AM/FM) — The U.S. Senate has voted 50 to 48 to confirm Brett Kavanagh to the Supreme Court, cementing a conservative majority in the high court for at least the next generation.
It happened as protestors chanted outside and Democrats urged Kavanaugh opponents to channel that anger and energy into getting out the vote next month.
Both of Michigan’s Senators voted against the nomination. Gary Peters saying that Kavanaugh is not the impartial jurist they need but he is rather “a partisan ideologue who sides with large corporations and special interests, not Michiganders”.
Debbie Stabenow says Kavanaugh is wrong on “Health Care, foreign dark money in our campaigns, the environment, and a woman’s right to choose.”
Kavanaugh has already been sworn in at a private ceremony. They plan a public Ceremony at the White House.
