BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – A suspect was taken into custody in Marshall Thursday night following a hit and run crash which left a 41-year-old woman dead that happened a few hours earlier in a Battle Creek intersection.
The crash happened at about 3:20 p.m. at the intersection of Emmett and North Avenue. The woman, who was an employee at nearby Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, was in the crosswalk and was struck by a pickup truck as it was making a right turn.
Witnesses told police the truck ran over her and did not stop. The suspect driver was arrested after reportedly spending some time consulting with an attorney at his Marshall office.
The woman was treated at the scene by doctors and nurses from the nearby hospital.
She was later taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo for emergency surgery but later died from her injuries. Her name has not been released.
