PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Portage Public Safety and Michigan State Police are searching for a man in an attempted strong-arm robbery at a pharmacy store.
It happened just before 9 a.m. Thursday at the Walgreens on South Westnedge Avenue.
Authorities say a man walked into the store, picked up an item, and then walked up to the check out clerk. He then reached over the counter, grabbed the worker by her clothing, and demanded cash.
The female worker screamed and pulled back causing the suspect to let go and run.
The would-be robber is described as a black man about 5’8,” 240 pounds, with a clean-shaven head and a long goatee.
The suspect did not get any money and the worker was not injured.
Michigan State Police launched a K-9 track which brought them to the Walnut Trails apartment complex, but then the track was lost.
Anyone with information should contact the Portage Department of Public Safety at 329-4567 or Silent Observer at 343-2100.
