DOWAGIAC (WKZO AM/FM) — A motorcyclist is dead after he crashed trying to flee from Dowagiac Police.
Officers attempted a traffic stop near North Paul and Spruce Street Monday afternoon, but the motorcyclist sped off and they abandoned the chase.
Later, Cass County Sheriff deputies received calls around 3 p.m. about a biker that crashed along M-51 near Pokagon Street.
Witnesses say they saw the motorcyclist shoot off the pavement and smash into several trees.
Investigators identified the driver as 32-year-old Ryan Grady who was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was wearing a helmet and the crash is still under investigation.
