OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s investigators say it appears that drug and alcohol abuse may have led to the community’s latest homicide.
They say 36-year-old Kalvin Carter and 27-year-old Charles Hough were partying at the Concord Place apartments in Oshtemo for about 12-hours when they got into an argument around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
That’s when Carter pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed Hough.
Carter was so ashamed that he ducked down so the camera could not see his face during his video arraignment.
Carter, who has a previous criminal history, was charged with open murder and is currently being held without bond.
