SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man was shot to death during a visit to Santa Fe, New Mexico last week and Santa Fe Police are now looking for five teens or young adults who appear to have had a confrontation with the victim.
64-year-old Richard Milan was returning home from California with his wife and a newly acquired camper-trailer and had stopped in Santa Fe to visit family.
He was walking his dog last Wednesday soon after dark when the shooting occurred. Milan was shot in the leg but the wound proved fatal.
Milan died at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center the next morning, according to Santa Fe police.
Police initially had few clues about the random shooting. They subsequently found a video camera that shows the event, but only at some distance and in the dark.
The dog returned to the apartment complex where the walk began.
