HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Rep. Mary Whiteford talks about the Michigan House members’ approval of her House Resolution 384, which designates September as an awareness month of Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly — also called PACE — in the state of Michigan.
For 23 years, the 80th District Republican says, PACE has helped Michigan residents stay out of nursing homes. Instead, they stay at home and active in their communities
“PACE will make sure that they stay at home,” Whiteford said in a statement issued from her office. “They have caregivers come to their home. If this person is capable, they can actually get a bus ride over to the center in Holland, and be around other people — get therapy. There’s physical therapists there, there’s doctors there, they pick up their prescriptions there.”
PACE is a nationwide program; in Muskegon and parts of Ottawa and Allegan Counties it’s called LifeCircles, with locations, in Muskegon and Holland.
The cost for the program is funded by Medicare, Medicaid and/or private funds. Medicaid recipients pay nothing out of pocket, except for costs of medical services from out-of-network providers without prior authorization (with the exception of emergency services).
