COLDWATER (WKZO AM/FM) — A group of adults already under investigation for participating in a child pornography ring have now been charged by the Attorney General with conspiracy to kidnap and murder a child.
Charges have been leveled that the four planned to snatch a child at random from a local county fair, sexually assault and torture the child to death, and then dispose of the body.
Named in the conspiracy are David Bailey of Coldwater, formerly of Kalamazoo, Matthew Toole of Battle Creek, Talia Furman of Springfield and Jayme LaPointe of Athens.
They are each charged with conspiracy to Kidnap, commit Sexual Conduct and commit murder, and would be subject to life in prison if convicted. They will be formally charged on Monday in Coldwater.
Bill Schuette says the charges follow an in-depth investigation by State Police which reportedly obtained detailed plans that would have been executed this County Fair season.
