OTSEGO (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Otsego can breathe a sigh of relief after test results have come back showing only a tiny trace of dioxin that is well within safe limits in one of their three municipal wells, and no contamination at all in the other two.
City Manager Aaron Mitchell says he is ecstatic. He says they had already made plans, including securing a truck load of bottled water, if the news was not good.
He says this means the municipal water is safe.
It follows the discovery of Dioxins in 19-private wells. County Health Officials had hoped to have test results on dozens of other private wells by now, but the lab says it’s taking longer than they expected.
Those people remain on pins and needles, the ones that tested positive, are already drinking bottled water, until more in depth testing is completed.
