MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – Nearly 200 people turned out at the Bogar Theatre in Marshall Thursday night for a sneak preview of a new movie inspired by the Jeremiah Cronin home.
The red carpet was rolled out for the Michigan premiere of “The House with a Clock in the Walls”. The major motion picture is filled with magic, comedy, frights and special effects.
The movie is based on a book published in 1973 by Marshall native John Bellairs. He imagined an off-kilter version of his hometown as the background for the stories.
The Cronin House is a registered historic landmark with the State of Michigan. It has floating staircases and some unusual woodwork, but few of the mind-bending amenities of the house in the film, and as far as anybody knows, no clock in the walls.
The film stars Jack Black and Cate Blanchett. It arrives in theatres in the rest of the country Friday.
