KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The suspect in Kalamazoo’s latest homicide has been formally charged.
Jerome Oday II, a 27-year-old Kalamazoo man with a previous criminal history has been charged with felony murder and a couple of gun felonies for the shooting at the J & B liquor store early Saturday that left another man dead.
Apparently the two had had a previous altercation that may have been the motive for the crime.
Oday is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail pending preliminary hearing, for the death of 23-year-old Tykarri Shaheed Lucas, a Benton Harbor man who had recently moved to Kalamazoo.
Oday fled to a friend’s home in southern Kent County after the shooting. That’s where he was arrested.
Bond was denied during his video arraignment.
