LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — Lawmakers are urging the Environmental Protection Agency to reevaluate the safe level of PFAS.
Congressman Fred Upton and Democrat Debbie Dingell are co-sponsoring legislation saying that the current 70 parts per trillion standard is too high.
Some states have set the number at 35ppt or 40ppt and New Jersey is even considering a 14ppt standard.
EPA’s Peter Grevatt testified at a congressional hearing last week that until better science comes along, they aren’t changing it.
Upton says they will continue fighting and formally propose their bill Thursday, if the final draft is ready.
