KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — There were bears everywhere as Midwest Communications, Kazoopy’s Pizza and Sweetwater’s Donut Mill dropped off its latest collection of stuffed animals at the Salvation Army in Kalamazoo Monday morning.
They will be folded into the Angel Tree collection program and given to the children and families that participate in the Salvation Army’s Holiday Toy Shop.
The Teddy Bear Posse has been collecting the bears, and just about every kind of stuffed animal you can imagine, for the past few months from bins located strategically around town, donated by the generous people of Kalamazoo.
Salvation Army’s Tim Summers says smaller children often go for the stuffed animals and they usually have a limited supply, but this donation will make it possible to send every child out the door with a bear, or a stuffed rhinoceros or whatever they choose.
He says they will be counted, sorted, inspected and cleaned if necessary between now and Christmas.
