CASS COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — Cass County Sheriff deputies say at least 1 driver and two motorcyclists were injured when debris fell into the roadway during the strong Labor Day storms.
The first happened just after 3:45 p.m. Monday on M-40 in Porter Township when a large tree fell in front of a White Pigeon couple as they were riding on their motorcycle.
The driver, 57-year-old Ronnie Haas and his wife and passenger 53-year-old Eskalene Haas hit the tree and were ejected from the motorcycle.
The two, who were wearing helmets at the time, were rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injures.
Another driver was also injured after a tree smashed onto their car during the stormy weather on Labor Day.
It happened just before 10:30 p.m. Monday on Hemlock Lake Road near Taylor Drive in Marcellus Township.
Cass County Sheriff deputies say 56-year-old James Hokauson was driving on Helmlock Lake Road when the tree fell on his car.
He was rushed to the hospital with injuries and his condition has not been released.
