UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) — The National Weather service has confirmed five confirmed small tornadoes touched down in northern Lower Michgan during Tuesday’s storms.
Consumers Energy officials say the storms took down 2,800 wires and broke more than 100 utility poles,
With more than 2,000 people working to help restore power to some 117-thousand Consumers customers, the utility’s outage map Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, shows that figure whittled down to 17,115 still waiting for repairs. Company officials have predicted all will be back in service by the end of today.
Great Lakes Energy repair crews, working in 26 counties, brought the 24,000-plus outages down to 11.615 customers still without power by Friday morning.
