HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Consumers Energy crews worked relentlessly since Sunday night to restore power to some 61,000 customers left in the dark after storms rolled through West Michigan Sunday night and Monday morning.
Repair crews raced against the clock, trying to beat the next lines of thunderstorms headed across Lake Michigan. By 5 a.m. Tuesday, all Ottawa and Allegan county residents had power again.
The beach hazards advisory issued by the National Weather Service’s Grand Rapids office on Monday remains in effect through this evening, Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018. The statement applies to Lake Michigan’s shoreline, including Allegan and Ottawa counties, from Van Buren to Mason counties.
Wave heights are expected to range from 4 to 7 feet, with winds gusting to 30 mph.
