MACKINAW CITY (WKZO AM/FM) — With Labor Day around the corner, the Mackinac Bridge Authority is making sure everyone knows the new changes to the 61st annual Bridge Walk.
The group posted a video on their website explaining everything that has changed, including the elimination of busing from one side of the bridge to the other and the choice to start the walk from either St. Ignace or Mackinaw City and turn around at the halfway point.
Participants can still walk the entire length of the bridge but they will have to wait to retrieve their vehicle from the opposite side when traffic resumes after the event.
There is no fee or registration required to participate in the Bridge Walk.
The Mackinac Bridge will be closed to public traffic on September 3rd beginning at 6:30 a.m., the walk will begin at 7 a.m., and it will remain closed until noon.
More information on walking options can be found on the Mackinac Bridge website or in the attached video.
