LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — The Red Cross has told the employees who work their mobile blood collections in West Michigan that they may be out of a job on November 1st.
It depends on a satisfactory resolution of labor agreements with unions.
230 people could lose their jobs.
Apparently increased competition from Michigan Blood and a decline in the amount of blood needed because of new surgical techniques has reduced the need for the Red Cross service.
The organization plans to continue collections at fixed locations in Lansing and Flint and in South East Michigan.
