KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Planning Commission will recommend that a new housing project for recovered drug addicts and non-violent offenders get the zoning variance they need to build.
The county is clustering social service agencies, healthcare clinics, drug rehab centers, the health department and eventually the State Department of Health and Human Services in the Alcott Street area near the Goodwill.
There was opposition from neighbors at a community meeting to the addition of the Housing project, but they failed to appear at the Planning Commission meeting this week.
The recommendation to rezone will go to the City Commission for final approval.
