PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — Portage Public Safety officers are investigating the cause of a hotel fire that injured one tenant.
Crews were dispatched to the Airport Inn on Helen Avenue around 7:45 a.m. Monday and found smoke showing from one apartment and the roof.
Within 10 minutes firefighters put out a fire in one bedroom and the occupant was treated and rushed to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.
Officers estimate the total damage around $15,000 and nobody else was injured.
The Portage Fire Marshal is still looking into what sparked the blaze.
Although it is a hotel, some residents can stay at the Airport Inn for long periods of time.
