BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The pilot of a crop duster died late Saturday afternoon when his plane crashed in a field near Kosmerick and South Snow Prairie Roads.
Michigan State Police identified the pilot killed in the crop duster crash as 25-year-old Phillip Ching, who was from Elsie, Michigan but had been staying in Middlebury, Indiana for the summer working for Lutes Flying Company, which owned the plane.
The crash is still being investigated by the State Police and the Federal Aviation Administration.
State Police report the single engine aircraft had been conducting aerial application of agricultural chemicals at about 5:30 p.m. when it crashed.
Ching was the only occupant of the aircraft and troopers say he apparently died on impact. The official cause of death will be determined following an autopsy.
The Bronson Fire Department and Lifecare Ambulance were also called to the scene.
