GANGES TWP (WHTC-AM/FM) — A pedestrian has died after a crash on 66th street near 119th avenue in Ganges Township early Thursday morning.
Police were called to the scene at approximately 3:20 a.m. Thursday morning, according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office, which emailed a statement emailed to media Friday morning.
On arriving at the scene, police found Robert Joe-Edward Cobb, 54, from the Saugatuck area, who was declared dead at the scene.
The 18-year-old driver who crashed into Cobb told police he was travelling southbound on 66th Street when he encountered Mr. Cobb lying in the middle of the southbound lane of travel and was unable to avoid him. Mr. Cobb, police said, was wearing dark-colored clothing.
The crash remains under investigation by Allegan County Sheriff’s accident reconstruction team.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by Douglas Police officers, the Ganges Township Fire Department and Fennville AMR.
