LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan’s unemployment rate dropped last month to the lowest it’s been since December 2000.
Bruce Weaver with Michigan Deptartment of Technology, Management and Budget says thre jobless rate fell to 4.3 percent in July, but it remains almost half a percent above the national unemployment rate, which is 3.9 percent.
While state labor market officials say it’s the lowest in 18 years, Michigan was a different economy then and had nearly a quarter million more people working than it does now.
