KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Some are calling it the “Pink Wave,” a significant increase in the number of women running as Democrats for office this fall here in Michigan.
Not only is the entire top of the Democratic ticket female, but just over half of the party’s House candidates and 18 of 38 State Senate candidates are as well.
They say it’s due to the Trump administration’s attempts to strip away hard earned women’s rights.
Alberta Griffin, a WMU Professor of Public Administration says it was time for women to start being heard and that’s why she decided to run for office.
She is running in the 61st State House District and will face incumbent Brandt Iden this November.
