KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A drunk driver is in custody after smashing into multiple objects attempting to flee the scene in Kalamazoo’s Arcadia neighborhood.
Public Safety officers were called to the 4400 block of Clayborne Court at the Clayborne Court Apartments around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday after reports that a vehicle struck several parked cars, multiple trees, and then collided right into an apartment building.
A concerned witness ran to the scene and removed the driver’s keys from an open window to prevent any further damage.
The driver, a 29-year-old Kalamazoo man, was found lying outside the vehicle with minor injuries and he was arrested for operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
He was treated at Bronson Methodist and then booked into the Kalamazoo County Jail.
The incident is still under investigation.
