GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO AM/FM) — Grand Rapids Police say an Amber Alert for an infant girl who was reportedly taken from a gas station over the weekend turned out to be fake.
The mother first said a man named Terrell drove off with her vehicle and 20-month-old Jaionna Ross Ross in the backseat which triggered an Amber Alert on Sunday.
Now, authorities have determined that the mother made the story up, but they aren’t sure why she claimed the child was abducted.
The young girl turned up the next day at a relative’s home unharmed.
Charges are possible for the mother.
