PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — Two people are in custody after a massive drug house bust in Portage.
The Portage Department of Public Safety’s Portage Uniformed Narcotics Team (or P.U.N.T) investigated the situation for months after first receiving reports of a strong marijuana smell in the 3600 block of West Milham Avenue.
On July 29th they obtained a search warrant and executed a search at one of the homes where they found it was being used specifically as a marijuana processing facility.
Officials seized 3 pounds of packaged marijuana, 1 pound of marijuana wax, 45 mature marijuana plants, 45 pound of drying marijuana in the basement and $58,000 in cash inside the home.
They also discovered another $70,000 in a frozen bank account.
A 27-year-old Shelby Township resident and another subject were both arrested on unrelated warrants.
An investigation is underway and then charges will be sought.
No names have been released.
