PAW PAW (WKZO AM/FM) — A Detroit woman faces seven new counts and three old charges after she was spotted driving erratically on the interstate just before 6am Saturday by an off-duty Van Buren County Deputy on his way to work.
Deputies tracked her down and determined she had a blood alcohol count that was three times the legal limit. Not only did she achieve “super drunk” status, but she did it with three young children on board.
She told Deputies she was headed back home to the Motor City after a party in Kalamazoo, and became confused and when she learned she was headed toward Chicago on I-94.
They found her wallet during a search of the vehicle and that’s when they learned she had a suspended license, found suspected marijuana and cocaine, and that she had given a false name to police when she was booked.
That was probably to keep them from learning that she was wanted on three arrest warrants issued by Detroit area police agencies.
Having the three children on board, aged 10 months, two years and seven years, means she is charged with three counts of child endangerment too.
The fathers of the children were notified and drove over from Detroit to pick them up.
She will likely be formally arraigned at a bond hearing on Monday.
