KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) – The rain has finally come and while it’s a nuisance for some, its welcome relief for lawn obsessed homeowners and gardeners and especially farmers, who were beginning to worry.
Last night it proved to be a major inconvenience for a large section of Kalamazoo’s north side and Stuart neighborhoods, when the power went out just after 9pm.
Katie Carey at Consumers Energy says it was due to a lightning strike.
A tree fell on a car, there were other reports of fallen branches.
There could be more of the same Saturday, with isolated but torrential showers causing nuisance flooding on streets.
We needed the rain, just not on the weekend.
The wet weather has cancelled burn bans in Oshtemo and Emmett Townships.
