CHESHIRE TOWNSHIP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 32-year-old Bloomingdale man drowned in Eagle Lake Monday evening, according to a statement from Allegan County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol.
Rescuers were called just after 6:15 p.m. Monday to Eagle lake in Cheshire Township, where family members had pulled the 32 year old man from the lake and were trying to revive him.
Allegan Life EMS and several Allegan county Sheriff’s deputies performed CPR until they detected a pulse and rushed the man to a Kalamazoo-area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses told police the man with with family on the lake, next to a dock but said he’d gone far enough out that his feet couldn’t touch the lake bottom. He didn’t know how to swim. Family members had lost sight of him but immediately searched and were able to bring him ashore.
No foul play is suspected, police said. His name is being withheld until all family members are notified.
